EF Field Corrosion Engineer

ConocoPhillips

Sonja is a Staff Corrosion Engineer for ConocoPhillips, working in the Eagle Ford unconventional field in Texas specializing in external and internal corrosion, as well as chemical treatment. She came to Texas in 2017 from the ConocoPhillips Research Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she was a global internal corrosion SME since 2013. 

Prior to joining ConocoPhillips, she was a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute of Corrosion and Multiphase Flow at Ohio University, and a project leader for a Water Wetting Joint Industry Project where she researched the effect of flow patterns and crude oil chemistry on pipeline corrosion. 

Sonja gained her doctorial from the University of Iceland with the dissertation topic of ‘Corrosion in Geothermal District Heating Systems’ in 2006.
